It’s me, hi!
No, I’m not the problem, but it’s still me! Let me introduce myself… or you can read a bit about my journey here, too.
I was born in the +852, Hong Kong baby! 🇭🇰
Nothing beats dim sum in HK, and no, I can’t find anything quite the same here in Singapore. Believe me, I’ve tried. I have a few favourite dim sums: char siu so (baked BBQ pork pastry), cheung fan (it has to be HK-style), and I love a good dan dan mein.
I’m obsessed with makeup. 💄
I always find an excuse to buy something at the Sephora sale. I do get a fair few compliments on my makeup (when I’m bothered to do it), and I’m the queen of concealer to get a flawless base.
I’m a bit of a tech geek. 🤓
I love mechanical keyboards. They need to be nice and noisy. Hubby and I compete for who can be louder when we work from home: him on the phone or me and my loud keyboard. It brings personality to my dining table desk.
I’m a stickler for British English.
Simply because I attended an international school in HK with a British curriculum. I like the extra U’s, and the S’s. It gives writing character. Yes, I’m aware Google is American! Politics aside, I also secretly love the British Royal Family. 👑
I’m a weird-culture kid.
I’m ethnically Indian, born in Kowloon, Hong Kong, studied in Sheffield, United Kingdom and now I live in Singapore. You’ll hear me code-switch from polished English, to Singlish, to Chinglish in the span of one conversation! I occasionally swear in Cantonese which surprises many people on the streets of Singapore…
I was a passenger princess…
until the age of 33. Despite having a driving licence for 15 years, I never actually got behind the wheel until recently, and now I fight with my hubby to have access to the car. He recently injured his calf playing pickleball, and has had no choice but to be a backseat front-seat driver passenger prince. And driving me crazy in the meanwhile.
I enjoy both coffee and tea. ☕
No, not yuenyeung. Sometimes, I have both on the go while I’m working. I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but I do like my coffee laced with sugar and flavour. Deep down, I’m actually a child. However, after more than 7 years in Singapore, I still don’t know how to order local kopi.
I’m a sucker for SEO and email marketing.
I spent many years at my previous role tightening blog post headlines, URL slugs, and meta descriptions to ensure Google has all the facts. I also developed a love/hate relationship with the email marketing software we used to use, which is why I prefer to use Mailerlite now! So simple, so easy, so clean.
I enjoy baking, but only when I’m in the mood.
If I like you enough, I may gift you some baked treats, because I don’t have a sweet tooth and all. Though you may have to fight hubby for them!
Bonus: I’m an elder millennial,
with the music taste to match: Fall Out Boy, Nickelback, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, Good Charlotte… and deep, deep, very deep down I’m a metalhead.
